Virgo is the astrological sign that is associated with the constellation Virgo. The opposite sign to Virgo is Pisces.

Characteristics of Virgo people are diligent, analytical, self-sufficient, controlled, orderly, and modest. The flip side fussy, perfectionism, harsh criticism, coldness, and hypochondria.

Anatomically Virgo is said to rule the abdominal region, large and small intestines, spleen, solar plexus, lower lobes of the liver, pancreas, portal veins, umbilicus, hands, nails, and carpal bones.

Geographically Virgo is linked with Turkey, Greece, Brazil, Uruguay and the Caribbean.

Virgo is considered by some to be a barren sign.

Traditionally Virgo is considered to be ruled by Mercury. In the nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century thoughts leaned towards the planet Vulcan to be the ruler of Virgo. Not all astrologers agreed however. Some astrologers today feel that the dwarf planets Sedna and Eris rule Virgo. Others feel it is the asteroid Chiron. Most astrologers hold the traditional belief of Mercury as ruler of Virgo.
